About Us
NutriFoodGuide is an independent digital nutrition education publication focused on understanding how foods, nutrients, and dietary factors interact.
Most nutrition advice about food combinations arrives already flattened into a rule. Never drink tea with dinner. Always pair iron with vitamin C. Calcium blocks iron. Each of those sentences points at something real. Each also drops the conditions that decide whether it matters to you — how much, in what form, alongside what else, and measured over what length of time.
The conditions are usually where the interesting part lives. A nutrient interaction that looks dramatic in a controlled single-meal study can shrink to almost nothing across a week of normal eating. We built this publication to explain that gap rather than skip past it.
What is NutriFoodGuide?
NutriFoodGuide is an independent publication that explains food and nutrient interactions using authoritative nutrition resources and peer-reviewed research. It is not a clinic, a supplement company, or a healthcare provider. Nothing on this site is for sale, and no article recommends a product.
Every explanation is built around the same set of questions:
- What is interacting with what?
- How does the interaction happen?
- Where in the body does it occur?
- What conditions change it?
- What does the research actually show?
- What remains uncertain?
- What can a reader reasonably conclude?
The Nutrient Interaction Atlas
The Atlas is our primary project: a growing library of explanations, each covering one relationship between foods, nutrients, or dietary compounds. Articles are grouped by the mechanism behind the interaction rather than by nutrient, because the mechanism is what transfers from one case to the next. Understand how absorption competition works once and you have a framework for every future example.
The Atlas covers relationships including food to nutrient, nutrient to nutrient, food compound to nutrient, preparation method to nutrient, and meal context to nutrient — spanning absorption, bioavailability, competition, synergy, and the many relationships that depend entirely on context.
How we move from a food to an understanding
- Food — what is actually eaten, in what form.
- Nutrient — the compounds it delivers.
- Interaction — how those compounds affect one another.
- Evidence — what research has and has not established.
- Understanding — what a reader can reasonably take away.
This is our editorial model for building an article — not a biological pathway. The body does not process food in five tidy stages.
Our editorial principles
- Evidence first
We start from authoritative nutrition resources and peer-reviewed research, not from a conclusion we already wanted to reach. - Context matters
An interaction observed under controlled conditions is not automatically a universal dietary rule. We say which conditions the finding depended on. - No hype
We avoid sensational framing and keep the line visible between what evidence establishes and what it merely suggests. - Explain, don’t prescribe
The goal is understanding. Decisions about your own diet belong with you and, where relevant, a qualified professional.
Those principles produce a specific habit: several of our articles conclude that a widely repeated interaction matters less than its reputation suggests. We think that is a feature. A publication whose every article ends with “and this is important” is not following evidence.
Who we write for
Our content is written primarily for readers in the United States, drawing on U.S. nutrition guidance and authoritative resources where appropriate, while remaining useful to readers worldwide. The underlying science does not change at a border, but reference intakes, food fortification practices, and dietary guidance do — so we name the framework we are using.
NutriFoodGuide is published independently and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or reviewed by any government agency, university, or professional organization. Citing a source never implies that the source endorses this site.
What we don’t do
- Diagnose conditions or interpret symptoms, lab results, or test values
- Prescribe treatment, dosages, or supplement regimens
- Replace care from a qualified health professional
- Provide individualized dietary or medical advice
- Promote cures, detoxes, or miracle foods
- Make health promises the underlying evidence does not support
