NutriFoodGuide provides general educational information about food, nutrition, nutrients, and nutrient interactions. Please read this page before acting on anything you find on this site.
Educational purpose
The content published here exists to help readers understand how foods, nutrients, and dietary compounds relate to one another — how absorption works, what changes it, and what research has and has not established. It is written for general education, not for the circumstances of any individual reader.
Not medical advice
Nothing on NutriFoodGuide is medical advice, and using this site does not create any professional relationship. We do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, recommend dosages, or provide individualized dietary guidance. Content here is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified physician, registered dietitian, pharmacist, or other appropriate professional.
Do not change medications, supplements, or prescribed diets based on this site
This point matters more here than on most nutrition sites, because our subject is interactions.
Information about nutrient interactions should not be used to independently start, stop, change the dose of, or change the timing of prescription medications; start, stop, or alter supplements; modify a diet prescribed for a medical condition; or self-treat a suspected deficiency. Drug–nutrient interactions in particular can be clinically significant and depend on the specific drug, dose, formulation, and person. Those decisions require a professional who knows your medical history.
Individual differences
Nutrient needs and responses vary between people, and often within the same person over time. Age, sex, pregnancy and lactation, health conditions, medications, genetics, gut health, existing nutrient status, and overall dietary pattern all influence how an interaction plays out. A general explanation cannot account for your particular situation.
Scientific uncertainty
Nutrition science is incomplete and changes as new research appears. Some interactions are well documented; many are context-dependent; some remain genuinely unresolved. We describe that uncertainty rather than resolving it artificially — which means some articles deliberately end without a firm answer, because a firm answer would misrepresent the evidence.
Supplements
NutriFoodGuide does not sell supplements and does not recommend specific supplement products, brands, or dosages. Where an article discusses a nutrient in supplement form, it does so to explain research findings, not to suggest that any reader should take it. Supplements can interact with medications and with each other, and some carry meaningful upper limits.
Medications and drug–nutrient interactions
Where an article mentions a medication, it is describing published findings in general terms. It is not guidance about your prescription. Speak with your prescribing clinician or a pharmacist about any interaction that concerns you — pharmacists in particular are an accessible and often underused source of expertise on this exact question.
Professional care
Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read on this site. If you think you may have a medical condition or a nutrient deficiency, consult a qualified professional who can assess and test appropriately. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
External sources and links
We cite and link to external resources including government agencies, academic institutions, and peer-reviewed literature. Content updates
Articles reflect our understanding of the available evidence at the time of writing or last review. Research moves, and an article may not reflect the most recent findings. Publication and update dates are shown on each article.
